Aman. (2011, January 11). How to calculate the MACRS depreciation incentive for solar systems. In Sunmath Toolbox. Retrieved March 7, 2012, from http://sunmath.com/blog/how-to-calculate-the-macrs-depreciation-incentive-for-solar-systems -This source was used to determine the MACRS depreciation for my photovoltaic solar panel system.
-ASHRAE Std. 62.1 was used to find numbers and calculations as well as to check for acceptable levels.
-ASHRAE Std. 90.1 was used to check efficiency values.
-The coefficients for pressure drops through ducts were found here (as well as the process to calculate them).
-This source was used for determining emissions from the different building designs.
-The size and thickness of different ductwork was found here.
-This database shows the incentives for different green technologies in each state. This was crucial in determining what incentives the photovoltaic solar array could get.
-The architctural drawings were used for take off calculations.
-Take off calculations were done using the mechanical plans. A majority of information was pulled from these drawings throughout this thesis report.
-Price escalations for electricity and natural gas were found in this document for the life cycle cost analyses.
-The process for determining pressure drop through piping systems was found here.
-This website was used to determine the electrical generation of solar panel arrays.
-The NYS Mechanical Code was used to find acceptable ventilation rates for rooms.
-The NEC was used in sizing all the wires for the photovoltaic solar array.
-The ASHRAE Pocket Guide was used to check values for heating and cooling as well as find loads given off by various office equipment and people.
Reed Construction Data. (2012). RSMeans Mechanical Cost Data 2012 (33rd ed., pp. 137-312). USA. -Mechanical equipment costs was found here.
Specifications Books 1-3 (2011). Solicitation NO.: SCA10-006621-1 -Information on the current mechanical systems in Hunter's Point South School was found here.
Steel Construction Manual (13th ed.). American Institute of Steel Construction. -Strength and deflection values were found here for my structural breadth.
Trane. TRACE 700. Trane, Inc. Piscataway, NJ. -TRACE was used both for building load calculations as well as an energy model.
U.S. Green Building Council. LEED 2009 for New Construction and Major Renovations. Washington, D.C., 2008. -The LEED document was used in determining what points Hunter's Point South School would receive for a LEED's rating. |

Note: While great efforts have been taken to provide accurate and complete information on the pages of CPEP, please be aware that the information contained herewith is considered a work in progress for this thesis project. Modifications and changes related to the original building designs and construction methodologies for this senior thesis project are solely the interpretation of Britt Kern. Changes and discrepancies in no way imply that the original design contained errors or was flawed. Differing assumptions, code references, requirements, and methodologies have been incorporated into this thesis project; therefore, investigation results may vary from the original design. |
